Sister Girl Program

The Sister Girl Program

The Sister Girl Program is designed for women who have completed the 8-week residential program and are interested in further behavioural skill development to prevent relapse and prepare for more in-depth therapeutic work. Sister Girl aims to empower women struggling with substance misuse who experience challenges in regulating emotions, behaviour, relationships, and self-identity.

The program supports women in taking ownership of their lives and includes activities like:

  • Yoga
  • Art therapy
  • Parenting groups
  • Mindfulness and relaxation sessions
  • Gentle exercise

The program draws from Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), providing the following key features:

  • Support-Oriented: Participants identify and build on their strengths, helping them feel better about themselves and their lives.
  • Cognitive-Based: DBT helps participants recognise and address thoughts, beliefs, and assumptions that make life harder, promoting new ways of thinking for a more manageable life.
  • Collaborative: Group skills focus on understanding personal relationships, parenting experiences, and overall physical and psychological well-being.

Deeper Care will also provide a discharge plan and follow-up services. Upon completing the program, women participate in a discharge program to support the changes initiated during their 8-week Residential Program.

Collaborating with Deeper Care professionals, participants identify specific needs and set achievable goals. They are encouraged to return to Deeper Care for ongoing support if they find it beneficial to their journey.
